Child dies, 6 children fall sick at home for girls

A child died while six children fell sick at a girls' home at Debnagar in Jalpaiguri district last night.
A senior police officer said the child Kaushik Roy, son of the home's cook staying with her mother for some days, fell sick last evening and was declared dead at Jalpaiguri Hospital after being admitted at around 8:30 pm.
Four girl inmates of the home and two other children of the employees staying with their parents at the staff quarters were admitted to the same hospital after complaining of stomach cramp and dizziness, the officer said.
The deceased child was a student of class v and staying with his mother during examination vacation.

Superintendent of home Rita Barui said she was on leave yesterday but on hearin the news rushed to the home and arranged hospitalisation of the boy and other children.
She said the home authorities were conducting a probe into the incident.
