Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who made a strong pitch for the 'Make In Maharashtra' initiative during his China visit, returned to Mumbai late last night.
"Thanks China for the overwhelming response. It'll surely play an important role in economic development of Maharashtra," Fadnavis tweeted after landing here around midnight.
During his visit to China which began on May 14, Fadnavis was part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's entourage and he participated in the State/Provincial Leaders Forum meeting in Beijing.
The forum had a discussion on 'Sustainable Urbanisation: Smart City, Smart Living' and the role of states in strengthening relations and development partnership between the two Asian giants, in which Fadnavis participated.
He signed some major agreements with Chinese companies during the visit. Fadnavis met Terry Gou, chairman of Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest electronics contractor manufacturer, and Chinese automobiles major Beiqi Foton Chairman and CEO Jin Yu Wang which is planning to set up a manufacturing unit in the state.
He visited and met officials and industrialists in cities like Beijing, Hangzhou, Chengdu seeking investments for the state.
In Dongguan, Fadnavis signed a 'sister-city agreement' for Aurangabad, the tourist centre in Maharashtra famous for Ajanta-Ellora cave temples.
The Chief Minister also met top officials of Haier, Yapp, CGGC, Taiyuan Heavy Industry, Great Wall Motors and others to offer investment opportunities.
Last month, Fadnavis visited Germany and Israel to woo businessmen and offer benefits of 'Make In Maharashtra'.
