Regions in the lower and middle reaches of the mighty Yangtze river and some parts of the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou will experience heavy rain and storms during the period, the National Meteorological Center said.
It also forecast rainstorms for some areas in Guangxi, Hainan and Taiwan over the coming 24 hours.
The observatory advised authorities to closely monitor the weather front and prepare for any disasters, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
In the city of Maoming in southern province of Guangdong, days of heavy rain across 23 counties in which eight people were killed and resulted in direct economic losses of more than one billion yuan (USD 153.8 million) according to the provincial government.
