The 33-year-old actor, who found fame after playing Captain James T Kirk in the film, was celebrating the end of filming with a star-studded cast at a Methven pub before being nabbed by a routine drink-driving operation.
Pine will appear in Ashburton District Court next week after he was allegedly found driving with an excess blood alcohol limit by police near Methven early on March 8, reported The New Zealand Herald.
"Chris Pine arrived here and had his supermodel girlfriend (Iris Bjork Johannesdottir) with him and he spent most of his time with her, she flew in that day someone told me," said Blue Pub Methven manager Casey Crawford.
'Z for Zachariah' is directed by Craig Zobel and also stars '12 Years a Slave's Chiwetel Ejiofor and Margot Robbie from 'Wolf of Wall Street'.
Robbie and Ejiofor were apparently also present in the area.
The film is about a sixteen-year-old girl who survives a nuclear war in a small American town. It's due to hit theatres
