Circle Officer held on graft charge

a Circle Officer (CO)was today arrested by vigilance officials for allegedly taking bribe from his residence in Bihar's East Champaran district.
Acting on a complaint by one Rakesh Kumar, a native of Hamirpur village, an anti-graft squad from Patna laid a trap and arrested Akhil Kumar Malik, posted as the Circle Officer of Kesaria circle, while taking Rs 13,000 in bribe from Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Vigilance, P N Singh said.
The tainted official had demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe from the complainant for measurement of a land under dispute and received Rs 2,000 from him earlier, he said.
Malik was taken to the state capital for interrogation before production in a designated vigilance court for judicial remand, the DSP said.
