In a memorandum submitted by the protesters to District Collector, they alleged that officials working at a centre in vidhan sabha area 49 to process voter identity cards, and other work related to voters' list and elections were demanding "convenience" charges from people.
Shujawat Ali, former member of district municipal council alleged that officials at the centre were involved in corrupt activities and they threatened to stall work if their demands for bribes were not accepted.
Ali has also written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in this regard, saying if their grievances are not addressed then they would protest and disrupt work.
