CJI takes part in several functions in Ramban

Chief Justice of India T S Thakur today took part in a series of functions in his native Ramban district.
Justice Thakur, who reached here yesterday on a two-day visit, inaugurated a community hall at Batroo, named after his late father D D Thakur.
He also inaugurated a munsif court at Kunchi and laid the foundation of another munsif court complex in Hunga.
Earlier, he inaugurated DD Thakur Library at the district and sessions court in Ramban and met the members of the Bar Council of Ramban.

Justice Thakur lauded the efforts of judges of Supreme Court in making the judicial pillars strong enough to provide speedy and efficient justice to the people.
He said along with clean air, clean environment and employment, the public should also be provided equal and fair justice.
Recalling the efforts of his father Late Justice D D Thakur in developing this hilly region, he said numerous changes have taken place related to development in the area.
He emphasised the importance of English in the curriculum and said only well-established education system could have a positive impact on the students.
He also urged the state government to open a college at Ukhral to enable students from hilly pockets to get higher education at the doorstep.
