The mother was stabbed several times by the youth for naming him as accused in the molestation case as she was returning from Jagaddal police station after lodging an FIR, police said.
The young girl was returning from school when the accused pulled her hand and outraged her modesty this afternoon.
The infuriated mother then took her daughter to the local police station and filed a complaint, and the stabbing took place as the youth lay in wait near their residence.
Locals staged an agitation as the accused escaped after the incident under cover of darkness.
