Handlooms and Textiles Minister O S Manian said Co-optex sold handloom and powerloom products worth Rs 313.38 crore during the year 2015-16.
"This sale (including exports) was higher by Rs 7.87 crore than previous year. Co-optex created a record for the highest ever retail sale during 2015-16," he said.
This feat was achieved due to initiatives, including introduction of new designs and wide publicity, he added.
Stating that the garment sector was a growing segment in the textile industry in the state, Manian said of the 13,000 hosiery units in the country, 2,500 were located in Tiruppur in the state.
Silk and cotton sarees and dhotis are among the products sold by Co-Optex which has showrooms across the state and also in select cities, including New Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Panaji, outside.
