This will be their fourth chapter after California, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The announcement was made at a press briefing on the concluding day of Vibrant Gujarat Summit here today by the founder of the California-based non profit organisation, Karl Mehta.
Office of the Gujarat chapter will be based in Ahmedabad and it will focus on building technology-based solutions for public services in state by involving software professionals, who are working for companies like Google, Facebook, Infosys, Microsoft and Cisco, he said.
He said 'Code For India' has completed several large scale projects in India like developing a mobile application for 'real-time ebola tracking' and a garbage tracking application that supports 'Clean India Movement'.
Mehta said their another app Voter Registration was approved by the Election Commission.
On the occasion, Gujarat Finance Minister Saurabh Patel said the state can benefit from such pool of software professionals to solve many problems.
Patel also appealed to the organisation to take up the task of preparing a comprehensive database of all children enrolled in Anganwadis to keep a check on malnutrition.
"There are many other areas where you can help. I assure all cooperation from state government," the minister said.
