Justice (retired) Singh said today that its probe into the desecration incident in Bargari was almost complete.
The report will highlight the reasons and circumstances behind the incidents of sacrilege in various places and suggest measures to prevent such incidents in future, the head of the commission said.
Earlier, he visited Fatehgarh Sahib railway station, where torn pages of a religious book were found earlier. He also visited village Sindhran, Ambey Majra, Chatarpura and Badesha Kalan where incidents of desecration of a holy book were reported.
Rejecting as "inconclusive" the report of the Zora Singh Commission, the Congress government, which came to power in March this year, had a month later constituted a fresh Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice (retired) Ranjit Singh to investigate all cases of sacrilege in the state.
The new commission has a tenure of six months.
Justice Ranjit Singh is a former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The commission has also been tasked with inquiring an incident of firing in Kotkapura in Faridkot in 2015, in which two people were killed.
