Cold wave conditions continue unabated in most parts of HP

Biting cold wave conditions continued unabated in most parts of Himachal Pradesh in spite of a dry day as mercury dipped by few notches in tribal belt and other higher hills.
The high altitude tribal areas reeled under arctic conditions with mercury staying between minus 16 and minus 23 degree while Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded a low of minus 14.7 degree and minus 5.8 degree, a drop of five degrees since yesterday.
The key tourist resort of Manali and Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded minimum temperature atminus 2 degree and minus 1.5 degree while Sundernagar and Solan shivered at 1 degree and 1.3 degree.
Shimla and Una recorded a low of 4.2 degree, followed by Palampur 4.2 degree, Dharamsala 7.8 degree and Nahan 8.2 degree Celsius.
'However, the maximum day temperatures rose by three to four degrees and Una was hottest with a high of 23.4 degree, while Nahan and Solan recorded maximum temperatures at 21.8 and Solan 20.7 degree, followed by Sundernagar 20.5 degree, Bhuntar 18 degree, Shimla 15.6 degree, Dharamsala 15.2 degree, Manali 11 degree and Kalpa 4 degree Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted rains or snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills for next three days and rains or snow at many places from January 24 to January 26.
Rains or thunder showers would occur at many places in lower hills, MeT office said.
