This is the first time this season that the minimum temperature dropped below -10 degrees in the state.
Kargil witnessed a slight improvement in the night temperature which settled at -6.4 degree Celsius against -7.6 degree Celsius the previous night, a MeT department spokesperson said.
Srinagar, which recorded the first sub-zero night temperature of the season yesterday, did not show much improvement as the minimum temperature remained at -0.6 degree Celsius, the spokesperson said.
However, bright sunshine during the day provided relief to the denizens as the day temperature continued to hover around 16 degrees.
The ski resort of Gulmarg recorded a low of -2.8 degree Celsius, he said.
However, the night temperature settled above freezing point in Kupwara town of north Kashmir (0.8 degree Celsius) and Kokernag health resort in south (0.4 degree Celsius).
The weather will remain dry across Kashmir division, including Ladakh, over the next 24 hours, the MeT official said.
