Senior Congress leader and party MLA Manas Bhuniya's anticipatory bail petition in connection with the murder of a Trinamool Congress supporter was today rejected by the district and sessions judge of Midnapore district court.
Bhuniya was among 17 others named in an FIR filed by the wife of Dibakar Jana, a TMC supporter, who was murdered near Sabang on April 8 this year, ahead of the state Assembly elections.
The Congress leader had moved an anticipatory bail petition with the court soon after, which was rejected today by district and sessions judge Ashutosh Kar.
Bhuniya had won the elections by a comfortable margin of over 49,000 votes defeating his nearest rival Nirmal Ghosh of the Trinamool Congress.
