Cong MLC complains to EC against Baba Ramdev over his TV shows

A Congress MLC here today complained to the Election Commission about the sponsored televised Yoga programmes of Baba Ramdev, who is "openly canvassing" for BJP.
Questioning the sponsorship expenses in the context of the prescribed election expenditure ceiling, Congress MLC Mohan Joshi, in his complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner, has alleged that the Yoga shows of Ramdev on TV channels amounted to "violation of EC's code of conduct".
"The conduct of both BJP and Baba Ramdev by way of canvassing and adopting illegal means to sponsor his programmes is objectionable," Joshi said adding that such sponsorship expenditure incurred for TV channel features came under election expenses of political parties.

"Ramdev, who styles himself as Yoga 'pracharak' is a well known chief worker, openly canvassing for BJP and seen on BJP platforms with the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and leaders," Joshi said in the complaint.
