Expressing hope that his party would get majority in Lok Sabha polls, BJP National President Rajnath Singh today said Narendra Modi will become next Prime Minister and he would continue as the party president.
"I am sure that BJP alliance will get 272 plus seats and Narendra Modi will become next Prime Minister...", Singh told reporters when asked about possibilities of his name being put forward for the top post if BJP did not get majority.
Asked whether he would take some important post in BJP government, if it is formed, Singh emphasised, "I will remain party president."
On the issue of terrorism, Singh said his party government would prepare a comprehensive plan to deal with it but it would be ensured that the federal structure was not affected.
To a question about alleged RSS intervention in declaration of tickets and other decisions, Singh said that it was not so.
"People think all decisions are taken by party president himself...It is not so in BJP. The decision of ticket distribution is taken at state and national level election committees. And after differences, if some decision is taken everyone used to follow it," he said when asked about dispute in ticket distribution.
On asked about senior leaders and controversy arising on their seats, he said it was not as it appeared in the media.
"Senior leaders are fielded as per strategy", he said.
About Uttar Pradesh, Singh said that his party would win 50-60 seats (out of 80) and the party will declare candidates for Amethi, Raebareli and Banda in next two to three days.
On taking B Sriramulu in the party and Sushma Swaraj being upset with the decision, Singh said Sriramulu was close to Janardan Reddy brothers and Swaraj did not want to generate controversy as she was also considered close to the Reddys earlier.
"Sushmaji did not want any controversy and we advised her to put forth his view through tweet," he said.
