Congress today rejected the exit poll projections for Delhi Assembly elections which showed it to be a laggard with not more than five seats in the 70-member House.
"We respect the opinion of various psephologists but the ground level response indicates upswing for Congress candidates across Delhi. We sincerely hope that election results on 10th will reflect this principal grassroot support for Congress", party spokesman Randeep Surjewala said.
He was reacting to the exit polls that have predicted a majority for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with one of them giving it as high as 53 seats.
In the elections, billed as a referendum on Prime Minister Narendra Modi but rejected as such by BJP leadership, a resurgent AAP-led by Arvind Kejriwal has emerged as front-runner in all exit polls.
The polls shown on television channels today predicted BJP as the number two party and Congress way behind with none of them giving it more than 5 seats.
