Widow stabbed to death in Faridkot

A 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by a man after she refused to enter into an illicit relation with him in Kotkapura area here, police said today.
"The deceased, identified as Simbal Kaur, who along with her mother was going for work in the morning. Both of them used to work as maid. When they were passing through Kotkapura market of Faridkot district in the morning, one Sukhjeet Singh stopped them and allegedly started pressurising Simbal, who is a widow, to have illicit relation with him," police said.
When she snubbed him, Sukhjeet got enraged and allegedly stabbed her with a dagger and fled from the scene, Kotkapura DSP Baljeet Singh said.

Her mother with a help of a shopkeeper took her daughter to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead, he said.
Singh said a murder case has been registered against Sukhjeet and efforts are on to nab him.
