Congress leader arrested in dowry case

A Congress leader and former chairman of Amritsar Improvement Trust was today arrested for allegedly demanding dowry and harassing his daughter-in-law.
Maninder Singh Heera was arrested here by Ludhiana police for allegedly demanding dowry and harassing his daughter-in-law, police said.
Heera's son Gagandeep Singh was married to Sonia, daughter of former Congress Chief Parliament Secretary Malkit Singh Birmi in 2011.
Birmi had recently left Congress and had joined SAD (Badal).
A case has also been registered against Gagandeep who is yet to nabbed, police said.
