Congress MP Bavaliya defeated
Bavaliya polled 76,179 votes, while Maniya secured 86,184 votes. The incumbent MP had contested the 2009 Loksabha elections from Rajkot.
The Botad seat in Bhavnagar district was bagged by Minister of State for Industry, Saurabh Patel in 2007 assembly elections.
