Contractor shot dead in Muzaffarpur

A contractor was shot dead by two unidentified persons in Muzaffarpur town today, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Atul Kumar (aged around 35), a resident of Shivshankar Path area under Mithanpura police station area of Muzaffarpur town, Mithanpura SHO Vijay Kumar Rai said.
Rai said two bike borne unidentified miscreants started spraying bullets indiscriminately from sophisticated weapons when Kumar was talking to some persons in front of his residence located at Shivshankar Path.
Atul Kumar, the deceased contractor, died on the spot, while the miscreants managed to escape from the scene, he added.
Police have sent the body for post mortem to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, Muzaffarpur, he said adding that police are investigating the matter from all angles.

The reason behind the contractor's murder could not be known immediately, police sources said and added that it seems to be the case of extortion demand, failure of which led to his murder.
