A local court has asked the police to register a case against nine persons, including Tikamgarh Municipal Council president Laxmi Giri, who had allegedly submitted a fake caste certificate and won election to the post last month.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Ramji Gupta passed the order yesterday based on a complaint filed by one Laxman Raikwar, who alleged that Laxmi had won last month's election to the post, which was reserved for woman from OBC category, after submitting a fake caste certificate.
The court also directed the police to register cases against Laxmi's husband Rakesh, a BJP leader, and seven others, including former Tikamgarh Sub Divisional Magistrate N S Brahma and Tehsildar Rakesh Shukla in this connection.
The CJM also asked the police to submit the action taken report (ATR) before it on January 31.
In his complaint, Laxman had stated that Laxmi, a BJP candidate, had obtained two caste certificates in July and October last year. While the first one stated that she hails from Madhya Pradesh and belongs to OBC category, the other said that she is from Uttar Pradesh and is falls under OBC category.
In the plea, Laxman had sought that Laxmi and others should be charged with forgery and other relevant sections of the IPC.
