Cops injured as mining mafia open fire

A few policemen were injured when mining mafia opened fire at them in Asgarpur village here, police said today.
A police team, raiding the village yeserday night, was fired at, causing minor injuries to some policemen, they said.
The mafia managed to flee, but police seized two tractors and four trolleys.
An FIR has been lodged against 19 persons at Sector 39 police station, police said.
The raid was carried out by the Sector 39 police based on a tip off. During the encounter, police retaliated, but were unable to nab the culprits who also pelted stones at the cops and damaged police vehicles.
Police said that among the 19 accused in the FIR, names included Mobin, Raju, Bhola, Hari and Prem among others, some of whom have political influence.
