Couple commits suicide by jumping into canal in AP

A man and his wife allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a canal in Khnadriga village of Kothapeta town in east Godavari district.
The couple identified as K Srinivas and K Bhavani jumped into the canal last night, said police.
Some local swimmers tried to save them but the force of water swept away the couple, said police.
After receiving information police rushed to the spot and started search operation to trace them. However, they could not be found last night, said police.
This morning body of Bhavani was found near Rakurthypalam village, but Srinivas is still untraceble, said police.

According to D Vijayakumar, sub-inspector of police, Kothapeta, Srinivas and Bhavani had an inter-caste marriage. They have a two-year-old girl who is deaf and dumb.
They treated her in a local hospital but there was no result and so they were worried about their daughters future, said the official.
Police suspect that concern over daughter's future could be the reason for the couple to take extreme step.
