A couple was hacked to death by unidentified persons at Bhatkundi village in Bihar's Banka district, a police official said.
Superintendent of Police Chandan Kushwaha said that the miscreants killed the couple on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday by slitting their throats, the SP said.
The deceased have been identified as Shekhar Choudhary (50) and his wife Kiran Devi (45).
The miscreants entered the couple's house when other family members were away to participate in a 'kirtan' programme.
The son of the deceased couple has lodged an FIR in Sadar police station against five persons.
According to the villagers, the killing could be a fallout of a land dispute, the police said.
Raids were being conducted to nab the criminals.
