Talking to reporters after visiting the house of the woman, Vijayan said the real culprits could be arrested only if the probe was handed over to another team from the existing one.
The present probe was not moving in the right direction, he alleged and added that the present investigation team was showing some urgency to hide many things in the case.
The body of 48-year old woman, who was said to be missing since February 5, was later found in a pond at Unnikulam in Nilambur.Police had already arrested two persons, Biju Nair, personal staff of Kerala power minister Aryadan Mohammed and Shamsuddin, a friend of Biju.
Speaking to reporters at Kozhikode, Uzhavoor Vijayan, NCP State Vice-President, said a CBI probe was needed to bring to light any involvement of top people in the murder.
