Criminal killed in police encounter

A most wanted criminal of Bhiwani district was killed today in an encounter with the Rohtak police in Kalanaur town, about 30 km away from here.
Kolbeer Singh, carrying a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head, was wanted in several heinous crimes, police said.
On a tip-off that Kolbeer was heading to Bond Kalan village from Kalanauar town, a special police team laid siege to nab him, but he was killed in encounter when he tried to escape, Anil Kumar Rao, Inspector General of Rohtak Police said.
Among other cases, Kolbeer was the main accused in the double murder case of two youths in Bond Kala village on November 14 last year.

Villagers had agitated over the murders and set afire Bond Police Station, damaged several other vehicles and snatched official police weapons.
