A CRPF personnel today allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon at a paramilitary camp in insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
"Sub-Inspector Badridutt Pandey of 195th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force shot himself with his service rifle at his battalion base camp in Barsoor region this morning," Dantewada Superintendent of Police Narendra Khare told PTI.
Some jawans heard a gunshot early in the morning when they were resting in the camp and found the SI lying in a pool of blood, he said.
Later, he was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead, he said.
The exact reason which prompted him to take the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, Khare said.
However, prime facie it shows that the deceased, a native of Almora district in Uttarakhand, was apparently disturbed because of some family issues, he added.
