CSSU inaugurated at Tata Main Hospital

Tata Steel Managing Director (India and South East Asia) T V Narendran today inaugurated all-new Central Sterilization and Supply Unit (CSSU) and Emergency and Trauma Centre at Tata Main Hospital here today.
The CSSU have been set up to sterilize articles at the required time and place for use at multiple locations of various hospital and dispensaries.
The Department of Emergency on the other hand has been expanded, infrastructure improved and services enhanced to make it function as an Emergency and Trauma Centre, a Tata Steel press release said.
The new CSSU would take care of all the activities related to reprocessing, cleaning and packing of surgical instruments, sterilization and storage of sterile items in a controlled environment.

This modern CSSU was a structured department with separate dirty, clean and sterile zones. The facility documents various processes, including equipment maintenance, log of every load, re-sterilization of expired packs and recall for any sterilization or related failures.
