Day temperatures drop marginally in HP

The maximum day temperatures dropped by two to three degree across Himachal Pradesh as weather remained cloudy and chilly winds swept the mid and higher hills.
The high altitude tribal areas had another spell of mild snowfall and about 180 people remained stranded at ten helipads in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district due to inclement weather conditions.
About 240 people, including two patients were airlifted from Barring and Rawa while helicopter to Jaspa could not be operated due to bad weather.
The stranded persons included 130 employees, 25 children and 15 patients and efforts were being made to evacuate them, district authorities said.
Una was hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 28.4 degree Celsius, a drop of 3.6 degree since yesterday while Sundernagar recorded a high of 24.3 degree, followed by Nahan 23.9 degree, Bhunter 23.0 degree, Solan 22.0 degree, Dharamsala 19.8 degree, Shimla 17.0 Kalpa 9.6 degree respectively.
The minimum temperatures remained moderate with minor fluctuations and Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district was coldest in the region with a low of minus 5.1 degree C and Kalpa and Manali recording minimum temperatures at 2.4 degree and 2.8 degree C respectively.
Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded minimum temperatures at 6.7 degree and 8.7 degree while Shimla recorded a low of 9.1 degree, followed by Solan 9.5 degree, Palampur 10.7 degree, Dharamsala 11.2 degree, Una 12.2 degree and Nahan 13.3 degree C respectively.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in lower and mid hills and rains at isolated places in higher hills in the state during the next 48 hours.
