Defamation case: Vijaykanth appears in court

DMDK founder leader Vijaykanth today appeared before a court here in connection with a criminal defamation case filed against him by the Tamil Nadu Government.
Responding to summons, the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly appeared before the Principal Session Court which adjourned the case to October 30.
City Public Prosecutor M L Jagan had filed the case on behalf of the government.
He submitted that Vijaykant in an interview to a TV channel owned by him had said public money was being wasted by the AIADMK government by issuing huge advertisements in the media. This was treated as defamatory.
Vijaykanth is facing several defamation cases filed by the Jayalalithaa government in various courts in the state.
