Delay in taking to hospital leads to death after snake-bite

A teenager from Dombivali in Thane district died of snake-bite today.
Dr Liladhar Mhaske of Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation said that Balaji Shinde, aged around 15, resident of Manpada in Dombivali, was brought to the government hospital in Dombivali last night in a serious condition.
According to Dr Mhaske, the civic hospital had adequate supply of anti-venom medicines, but the boy was brought there very late, as the parents first went to a village quack.
Doctors tried their best but they could not save him, he stated.
