The decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Sectariate.
"Delhi Cabinet has decided to start development works in unauthorised colonies that came up before January 1, 2015. The development works that will be carried out are installation of sewer lines, construction of roads and other basic amenities," a senior government official said.
So far, around 895 unauthorised colonies have been have been regularised.
"The numbers of unauthorised colonies are yet to be certained. Without getting into numbers, government decided to carry out development works in those unautorised colonies which came up before January 1, 2015," official said.
Government had decided to immediately complete the process of fixing boundaries of these colonies using the latest scientific methods. Satellite and Total Solution Methods would be used for demarcation of boundaries.
On AAP's key poll promise of not demolishing slums, Kejriwal, during his public rally in Karawal Nagar, Kejriwal had said the government won't allow further demolition but requested the residents to prevent "new constructions" which he said will lead to further deterioration.
