Dempo blank Sporting 3-0 in Hero I-League

Dempo FC scored a fluent 3-0 win over 10-man Sporting Clube de Goa to earn their first win in the third round of the Hero I-League, played at Nehru stadium, Fatorda, here today.
With today's win, Dempo have collected 5 points from 3 matches. While Sporting Clube de Goa, who lost their first match, remained on one point from two matches.
Dempo who led 1-0 at half time scored through Lenny Rodrigues (28th), Alwyn George (50th) and Francis Fernandes (90th).
Both the teams made two changes in today's match. Dempo, who drew both their matches, brought in Alwyn George and Clifford Miranda in place of Mandar Rao Dessai and Holicharan Narzary, while Sporting brought in Pratesh Shirokar and Sumeet Passi in place of Don Bosco and Joseph Pereira.
Dempo FC looked more dominant of the two teams as they enjoyed territorial advantage over their rivals and took the lead in the 28th minute.
Carlos Hernandez, who kept the attack on, released the ball to Leny Rodrigues, who cut past defender Rojen Singh and Jovel Martins before uncorking a firm right footer past keeper Ravi Kumar from the edge of the box to have Dempo leading 1-0 at half time.
Sporting Clube de Goa came close to scoring on a couple of occassions in the first half but received a set back early in the second half when Clemente Joseph earned a second bookable offense against Clifford Miranda from referee A Rowan in the 47th minute and Dempo took advantage of the numerical figure and increased the lead in the 50th minute.
Alwyn George, who received a pass from Gurpreet Singh, got the better of his marker Rojen Singh to place the ball into the right corner of the net.
Francis Fernandes than ensured that his team collect full points scored in the 90th minute.
