Intel to provide security sols for Samsung's Tizen handsets

Tech giant Intel today said it will deliver its McAfee Mobile Security software pre-installed in the first Samsung smartphones running the Tizen open-source operating system.
"By including our software on new operating systems like Tizen, security is developed in parallel with the ever expanding technology landscape," McAfee Asia pacific Chief Technology Officer Sean Duca said in a statement.
McAfee is part of Intel Security. Samsung developed Tizen with Huawei Technologies and Intel Corp to challenge Android software that powers most of the world's mobile devices.
Tizen is an open and flexible operating system built from the ground up to address the needs of stakeholders of the mobile and connected device ecosystem.
* * * * * VMware strengthens leadership team in India * Virtualisation solutions firm Vmware today announced key changes to its leadership team in India.
The firm appointed Sundar Balasubramanian as the Senior Director for General Business for VMware India. Sundar will be responsible for Partners and Alliances and will also lead the Commercial Sales business for VMware in India, it said in a release.
VMware also announced promotion of Balaji Rao to Senior Director Enterprise and Government Sales to help enterprise and government organisations transition to mobile cloud era.
The US-based firm added that Sangeeta Gundala takes on a new role as India business leader for AirWatch (that VMware acquired in January 2014) to help address the fast growing enterprise mobility opportunity in India.
Gundala till recently held the position of Director of Commercial Sales at VMware India.
* * * * * Internet grows to 284 million domain names in Q3 2014:Verisign * US-based Internet infrastructure services provider Verisign today said 4 million domain names were added to the Internet in July-September 2014 taking the total number to 284 million globally.
Domain names rose by 1.6 per cent quarter-on-quarter compared to the second quarter of 2014, while globally registrations grew 18.1 million or 6.8 per cent, year-on-year.
"Four million domain names were added to the Internet in third quarter of 2014, bringing the total number of registered domain names to 284 million worldwide across all top-level domains (TLDs) as of September 30, 2014, according to the latest Domain Name Industry Brief," Verisign said.
