Windy conditions today prevailed in the national capital where dense fog in the morning hours caused cancellation of eights flights and delay of 139 others, even as 35 trains were running behind schedule.
The visibility was recorded at 300 metres at 5.30 AM at Safdarjung which after three hours dropped to around 50 metres before significantly improving to 1500 metres at 11.30 AM.
At Palam, the visibility was constant at 50 metres both at 5.30 AM and 8.30 AM. It improved to 600 metres at 11.30 AM, said a Met department official.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the maximum temperature settled at 22.5 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year.
The humidity oscillated between 100 and 52 per cent.
According to a senior Railway official, 35 north-bound trains were running late by several hours, while 28 others were rescheduled.
The dense foggy conditions also impacted the flight operations at Delhi airport. While eight flights were cancelled as the runway visibility dropped to below 50 metres, another 139 were delayed due to bad weather.
Low visibility procedure (LVP) remain in force from 2326 hours from last night to 1201 hours today, a Delhi Airport statement said.
The Met office has predicted clear skies for tomorrow with the likelihood of moderate to dense fog in the morning.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 23 and 10 degrees Celsius, respectively," said the weatherman.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperature were recorded at 21.5 degree and 10.6 degrees respectively.
