Design for Goripalayam bridge being prepared

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for constructing an overbridge to decongest traffic flow near Thevar statue at Goripalayam in Madurai has been prepared, Tamil Nadu government today informed the Assembly.
Replying to a query during the question hour, Highways and Minor Ports Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy said that while a detailed project report has been compiled, the design of the bridge was being prepared.
He was replying to Madurai (North) legislator A K Bose (AIADMK), who wanted to know the status of the project.
The Thevar statue location at Madurai witnesses heavy traffic as it is the starting point of the already existing bridges across the Vaigai river, which divides the city.
