The movie, an adaptation of the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel "Devdas", completes 14 years today.
Shah Rukh, whose performance in the film is considered one of his most special works by his fans, took to Twitter to mark the occasion.
"Devdas will always b special. Thank you Bhansali... The beautiful ladies & everyone. Late nights... Long shoots &so much love," the 50-year-old actor tweeted.
The epic love story featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the role of Devdas' childhood sweetheart Paro and Madhuri Dixit Nene as courtesan Chandramukhi, who lends support to the hero as he descends into alcohol after his beloved gets married to someone else.
Besides Hindi, the novel has also been adapted into films of other languages.
