The Pakistan team that is presently participating in the ICC World T20 in Bangladesh, is well aware of the problems posed by the dew factor and their bowlers and fielders have started practicing with wet balls to prepare for any eventuality in their remaining two group matches against the hosts and West Indies.
Pakistan's bowling coach, Mohammad Akram said it was becoming increasingly obvious that teams bowling second in the tournament were having problems with the wet balls.
"The dew factor is making life difficult for the bowlers and fielders and this problem is very much obvious in Chittagong. We are lucky that we have to play all our group matches in Mirpur where the problem is not that bad. But we don't want to take any risks at all because we have to win our remaining two games to qualify for the knockout stage" he said.
Akram said the Pakistani bowlers were now dunking the ball in a bucket of water before nets.
"Even in our fielding sessions we are using the wet balls so that catches are not dropped," he added.
He said when the ball gets wet due to dew it becomes increasingly difficult for both the pace bowlers and spinners to even defend big totals. "It is hard for bowlers to hold the seam and our pacers are also practicing in the nets bowling cross seam balls," he said.
The former Test bowler who has been working with the team for the last two years said that this edition of the World T20 was much more close than previous ones.
"It is hard to say who will play in the final right now because any team can win but obviously India is through to the semi finals so it is clear to us what we have to do that is win both our matches," he said.
