He, along with Jammu Zone Inspector General of Police Rajesh Kumar, visited the areas affected by the ongoing firing and shelling along the International Border at Arnia and R S Pura Sector, a police spokesman said.
Kumar conducted the detailed visit to the affected border villages where the BSF and other officers briefed him about the whole situation.
After making an assessment of the situation, the DGP briefed the Police and BSF personnel to synergise their efforts and fully ensure the safety and security of the local population, he said.
Later on, the DGP visited the houses of the deceased at Arnia and paid heartfelt condolences to their families.
Further, he interacted with the officers and officials of J-K Police at PS Arnia and also held interaction with the officers of BSF deployed in these areas.
