Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader and MLA T T V Dinakaran today appeared before a principal sessions court in connection with a defamation suit filed against him on behalf of Chief Minister K Palaniswami and other ministers.
The matter relates to some remarks made by Dhinakaran against them in connection with the unveiling of late chief minister Jayalalithaa's statue, which were published in some Tamil and English dailies in February.
City Public Prosecutor Gowri Asokan filed the defamation suit on behalf of the chief minister and other ministers.
Sessions Judge Subhadevi posted the case for hearing to June 28.
Hitting out at the ruling AIADMK, Dhinakaran told reporters that by filing the defamation case against him, they have proved that the government is undemocratic.
