: Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, the subsidiary of Stuttgart based Daimler AG,on Monday said it has cracked down on two units in North India, manufacturing and selling "unauthorised" spares under BharatBenz brand.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles owns BharatBenz brand and retails trucks and buses manufactured at its 440-acre facility in Oragadam near Chennai.

The company in a statement referred to the Delhi High Court passing an ex-parte interim order against two companies for allegedly manufacturing and selling spares bearing the BHARATBENZ mark and operating an 'unauthorised domain' in the brand name.

Following the order, a Court appointed commissioner undertook a search at the premises of the two companies located in Ghaziabad and New Delhi, the statement said.

During the raids, several products were seized, including torque rod bushes, 'V' rod bushes, bearings and oil seals.

"It is not just about monetary damages..it is about fighting back for the customer. It is about creating awareness and ensuring safety", DICV, MD and CEO Satyamkam Arya said on the issue.

"We take brand protection seriously and this legal action shows how vigorously we will always work to protect our customers and brand reputation", he said.

The company said use of non-genuine parts damages its reputation since it impacts the efficiency of the vehicle and also compromises on driver safety and also of passengers.

Daimler India educates customers on genuine parts and has also set up a genuine parts outlet in Coimbatore.

The company said it planned to set up more genuine parts outlets across the country.
