DMK today charged an AIADMK Minister with distributing cash to voters and demanded the Election Commission take action against him.

In a complaint to the EC, DMK Headquarters advocate I Paranthamen c Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister M C Sampath had given cash to voters in Cuddalore Lok Sabha constituency yesterday and this was "telecast by TV channels".

In a letter submitted to state Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar, the DMK leader said he was enclosing a copy of the CD purportedly showing Sampath distributing cash and requested the EC to "take action" against him.

In a separate letter, DMK objected to a circular issued by the Agriculture department asking village administrative officers to send list of farmers who had cultivated paddy under System of Rice Intensification so that financial grant for cultivable subsidy could be issued.

"It is pertinent to note that the circular does not contain any file number or any other reference of the department and signed dated is also 27.3.2014, hence there is something fishy in the activities of the officials," the complaint said.

This was against election rules, violation of Model Code and further it will amount to corrupt practice "in favour of the ruling AIADMK party candidate" by the officials, it said, demanding action against the officials concerned and stopping distribution of the grants.
