DMK will hold a protest demonstration on January 3, 2017 in Madurai District to urge the State and Central governments to "come forward" to hold the bull taming sport 'Jallikattu,' during Pongal festival in January next.
The demonstration will be held at Alanganallur in Madurai District, DMK treasurer Stalin said here today in a statement.
He said the protest is to urge the State and Central governments to "come forward to hold the bull taming sport Jallikattu." Alanganallur is famed for its annual bull taming sport till it was banned by the Supreme Court.
He invited all political parties and apolitical organisations to participate in the protest.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court had dismissed a review petition filed by Tamil Nadu to review the top court's 2014 judgment banning Jallikattu.
