According to the police, a special team was conducting routine vehicle search at a check post on the outskirts of Namakkal and detained a car bearing Haryana registration number.
"The five occupants in the vehicle fled on seeing us and ran away into nearby thick bushes", a senior district police official told PTI.
"We followed them and nabbed one person. He was wanted in a theft case. We carry the drone normally and today also our team used it as the suspects hid in a thick bushy area", he said.
The four other suspects were involved in ATM heist, he said.
Police identified the accused as Salman and Zuber from Rajasthan, Amith Kumar of Haryana, Mustaq Idris from Uttar Pradesh) and Zulfigire from Bihar.
Further investigation were on, he added.
