Eight persons, including two women, have been arrested after a clash broke out between two parties over parking of cars near a five star hotel in the heart of the national capital, police said today.
The arrested men have been identified as Mayur Goyal, Naveen Yadav, Nikhil, Kunal, Harpreet and Siddharth, all of whom are between 25 and 30 years of age.
"Late last night, five persons including the two women had reached a five star hotel under the jurisdiction of Parliament Street Police Station to celebrate a birthday party. They had parked their two cars near the hotel in front of a bungalow," said a police official.
The owners of the bungalow were infuriated over the cars being parked near their gate.
Sidharth Sanewal, accompanied by two of his friends Manpreet and Kunal, all in their early 20's waited for the occupants of the car and when the five persons returned after the party and argument ensued between the two parties, police said.
"The argument soon snowballed into a fistfight in which the two women and Sanewal received minor injuries. The women's friend Naveen, Mayur and Nikhil also received minor aberrations," the official said.
A police team soon reached the spot and took all the eight into custody.
Their statements were recorded and medical tests conducted in which some of them were found to be in an inebriated state.
A case of rioting have been registered and all of them have been arrested, they said.
