An enforcement team of Legal Metrology Department conducted surprise inspection of petrol pumps and various commercial establishments of Ganderbal district and checked the delivery of dispensing units of petrol and diesel yesterday, the spokesman said.
He said it was found that one petrol pump owner with the connivance of his manager was delivering 40 ml less petrol and diesel in every five litre to the customers.
The team imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the petrol pump owner.
The offender has been booked and fined Rs 5,000 for the offence, the spokesman said.
He said six other erring traders were also booked and fined for violation of various provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Standards of Weight and Measures Enforcement Act, 1997. A fine of Rs 4,200 was imposed on these dealers.
