An elderly woman has been apprehended at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for allegedly carrying a live bullet in her hand baggage.
Officials said the incident occured yesterday when the 60-year-old woman, a US passport holder, was on her way to board a flight to Jammu before which an inspection of her hand baggage by CISF officials led to the recovery of a .9mm bullet.
The woman was not carrying proper documents of the live round and hence she was handed over to airport police as mandated under airport security laws, they said.
The woman, officials said, however, said the bullet had been left in her baggage inadvertently.
