Elephant found dead in Mettur forest

An elephant was found dead in the Mettur forest region in the district, forest officials said today.
Locals found the carcass of the 30-year old female elephant at Elaramathikadu last evening, Mettur Dam Forest Range Officer Dharmaswamy said.
According to a veterinarian, who examined the pachyderm said the cause of death was some illness.
