Elephant found dead in Mudumalai

A decomposed carcass of a 15-year-old elephant was found in Sigur forest area in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve near here today.
Some villagers noticed the remains and informed forest officials, who along with veterinarian, Manoharan, rushed to the spot.
Manoharan said the elephant could have been died three days ago during a fight with a herd of elephants as the body bore injury marks indicating such an attack.
